Hi! My name is Dani DiPietro and I am passionate about Science and how it affects our planet. As well as, the teaching of Science, especially in middle school. I am originally from the United States, but am on a quest to live and work on every continent during my life. I have lived on six, but have visited all seven at this point in time. I have been a Science educator for 24 years, with 16 of those teaching years being abroad. One of my greatest accomplishments thus far has been living and working in Antarctica for thirteen months, encompassing two summers and a winter. I believe that people learn much from living, working and visiting other cultures and countries and make it a priority in my life to do so.
I believe Science should be taught in a fun, hands-on manner and should enable and enhance the critical thinking and inquiry skills of a student. My students should be able to interpret, analyze and coherently discuss data, utilizing many different methods, and hopefully this is achieved or at least realized by the end of a school year with me as their teacher. I also strive to have my students learn to be risk-taking global citizens, who show empathy and understanding for all environments and life on this planet.

"Dani DiPietro was a teacher who made 8th grade science so memorable that almost 19 years later I still vividly remember burning a corn nut to determine how much energy it releases. She was a teacher who cared that you learned, but equally cared about getting to know her students as people. That effort has manifested in the many relationships she has sustained with former students after they left her classroom. Though I call her Dani now, she will always be Ms. D., my 8th grade science teacher." - Akshay Krishnamurty, past student at Overlake
